Eh oui car je vous propose une interview d'un groupe assez extra dans le domaine, les Galactik Knights. En découvrant leur myspace, je fut suppris par la discrétion et le mystère qui planent autour de ce groupe, j'espère que ces questions vous permettront de mieux les découvrir!

Hey GK!, we'll start with a simple, yet effective, question : could you introduce yourself, how you got started with music, how you met...?

We are brothers who started this project in 2001. Since then, we have gained more team members involving them with ideas for our multimedia projects.

A small word about the band's name ?

"Galactic" is a universal term that for us encompasses everything from music, art, and working with others for the sole purpose of delivering what we feel is great material. For this style of project, it also helped to have a name that could be synonymous with adventure giving us more room to build our story.

First of all i have to say i was suprised how worried you are about privacy... why do you try to keep your identities so secret?

We keep our identities away from the spotlight because we feel that who we are and where we are from is irrelevant to our music. It's something we hope people feel that they can be part of, so it's more important to be identified solely by music and art.

On your Myspace we can read "Japan France USA". Do you come from all these countries or they're just names of places which inspire your music ?

The basic ideas of the project are of these particaular countries although we claim nationality to none.

Talking about your music, again i'll ask a very comon question, what kind of music is your source of inspiration? Do you only listen/sample funky, disco music from the 70's and 80's ?

We've always loved all styles of music such as House, Hip Hop, Electro, R&B, Trance, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk, Disco, Soul, Happy Hardcore, Chiptune, Film Scores, and Video Game Soundtracks. The Filter House style is one that we find to be much fun. It was the sole reason for our involvement with this particualar sound as well as the other styles we produce.


You already released 3 EPs on Beatism and Bumpin City Records which are quite specific and important labels. How did you start working with them ? Do you prepare new EPs in collaboration with these labels?

We began working with Beatism after they listened to our "Digital Silver" EP. They were very enthusiastic about our music and plans for our project, so we decided to do business with them. Bumpin' City, in it's own right, is a legendary Chicago label releasing artists such as Automatic & Silk, Stacy Kidd, and Ron Caroll. We are friends with the CEO and have worked together previously, so we decided to release our "Tonite" EP together as a limited 12". As far as how we work with labels, we choose our singles based on what we feel may better suit.

I can also see "Darling Records" in your top myspace friends, the famous Parisian Label of Axel le Barron...Can we imagine you're going to work with them sooner or later ? Are you close friends ?

We have been in contact with Darling for quite some time now and indeed have work planned with them for the future. After speaking back and forth, we find that they are great individuals who are motivated, passionate, and business-minded as well as laid-back and humorous. Working with them is something we are looking forward to.

Do you sometimes produce yourselves live ? Do you think of maybe doing somekind of tour ?

We have ideas for live performances and do think of touring as such. There is much to plan, so at the moment, we only perform DJ sets sharing the music we enjoy with others.

Finally, how far do you want the galactik knights's story to go ? Would you like to keep it the way it is or you're wanna become legends such as daft punk ?

In the past and up until now, people compare us to Daft Punk. It's an honor to be thought of in the same light, but it's not something we are pursuing. We feel that this project lies ultimately in the hands of fans. They give us many more reasons to keep doing our best, and from communicating with them along with seeing how much they enjoy the project gives us inpsiration. We are eternally grateful for their support.
We will push our story as far as possible. It takes much time to put something as difficult as this into motion, so we are waiting until timing becomes better.
